Tag by Heather Binnie. Used with permission. The Dove Blender Pen is specially formulated to make blending colors easy. It works with all water based markers, colored pencils, chalks, dye pads and pigment pads.
Blending techniques on embossed images:
1. On embossed images, use the tip of your water based marker to draw a hint of color inside the embossed line. Then use your Dove Blender to draw or blend that color out of the embossed line and into the design.
2. Start with lighter colors and gradually add in the darker colors.
3. Limit the colors you use. Three is a good number.
Helpful blending tips:
1. Place several short strokes of color from a marker onto a styrofoam plate. Use the Dove Blender to pick up the color and apply to your stamped image or paper.
2. Apply the Dove Blender to the stamped area first to prep the area before applying your marker.
3. Wipe the Dove Blender tip clean on a piece of scrap paper before changing colors.
4. To lighten intense colors, dab the marker on the tip of the Dove Blender.
5. When using water color pencils, write on a piece of paper with the pencils, then pick the color up with the Dove Blender
6. When using chalks, either apply chalks to your paper, or pick up the chalk with the Dove Blender to apply the color. No fixative is needed.
7. When using water paints, use the Dove Blender to directly pick up the color.
8. Replace tips when frayed, and refill Dove Blender withe Dove Blender refill when dry.
